Usery Mountain Engagement Session with Lyly and Cory

There's something special about capturing a love story. Especially in the desert. Especially at golden hour. And especially with an incredible couple like Lyly and Cory. Their Usery Mountain engagement session was everything we could have asked for. The cholla and saguaros were glistening in the sun and that same sun set fire to the sky when it set, providing an opportunity for a very dramatic photo (which you will see shortly).

With its desert landscape and panoramic views, Usery Mountain Regional Park has become a favorite location for all couples to have their engagement photos taken. You may be thinking "I don't want my engagement session to look exactly like everyone else's though". If you are thinking that, then good. Because you shouldn't want your photos to look like any other couple. The good news is that because the park is so big, with so much variety, it's next to impossible to look like a carbon copy of any other session that has taken place.

Lyly and Cory brought so much charisma and warmth to their session. As soon as they exited their vehicle, I saw Cory wearing a nice pair of Altras. For those of you that don't know, Altra is a true running shoe brand. You only wear them, or even heard of them, if you are a runner. A trail runner to be more specific. Being a runner myself, we had great conversation about running, sharing stories of our adventures with different races as we headed to our spot which was conveniently not far from the parking area. The fun extended throughout the shoot as they took every pose and prompt I gave them and made it uniquely their own. The chemistry they have was evident from the beginning, sharing jokes with one another, gazing fondly into each other's eyes, cherishing the moment. It wasn't just one another they were mesmerized with, but also with the scenery. Having just moved here from Texas the day before, they were experiencing and Arizona sunset for the first time and I luckily got to document it.

Including their daughter into the mix was icing on the cake and made it even more meaningful. She brought an extra dose of sweetness and added a layer of depth to their story. Witnessing these three interact, you could clearly see the bond they share as a family.

If you're planning an engagement session, a surprise proposal or any other kind of photos, you can't go wrong with Usery Mountain Regional Park. It offers a unique blend of natural beauty and romantic atmosphere while also not being difficult to get to and not far to hike to get to the remarkable spots. There is a fee of $7.00 per vehicle to get onto the park but once there, you'll be glad you did it.

If you're ready to book an engagement session at Usery Mountain Regional Park, or anywhere else for that matter, please reach out so we can get the ball rolling.
