Our first mission was finding a parking spot. Some brainiac decided to schedule the session on the weekend that Disney on Ice was in town (That brainiac was me). Once that mission was accomplished, we found some nice spots near the old courthouse where the classic architecture brought a touch of elegance to Jayden’s urban look. The only regret from this session was not having enough time to get a photo op in every single spot. In Downtown Phoenix, if you throw a rock, it will land in a nice spot for a photo. One spot in particular that caught my eye was right in front of a restaurant. Most people would think nothing of it but I knew the light was going to hit just perfectly once it set a little, bringing a beautiful glow to Jayden and the surrounding flowers. This is just one reason hiring a professional photographer is so important. We know how to see light and compositions in a way others don’t.

From there, we moved to a nearby rooftop just in time for golden hour. That’s where her Dodge Challenger was waiting, in all its glory. As if it isn’t cool enough to have a vehicle like that, even more cool is that Jayden bought the car all on her own with money she saved working any job she could. Using my off-camera flash, I was able to capture some really dramatic images of her and her ride with the sun setting in the background. The way the light hit her challenger, the angles of the buildings, and the soft glow of the setting sun—this is why I love downtown senior photos. They allow us to go full cinematic and give seniors something truly different.

Jayden, a senior at Willow Canyon High School, brought all the attitude and confidence to match the vibe. Her outfits were on point, and the whole session felt like a magazine editorial. This wasn’t just a photo session, it was a celebration of who she is and what she loves.
